Within the scope of its mission in the social field the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation created the Social Observatory of Alentejo– OSA, during 2004.

Engaged in studies, training and information sharing, the OSA is a useful work tool for the development of the missions of the various institutions of a social and cultural nature with which it relates through a permanent interface.

As a knowledge centre, the OSA promotes:

• studies of socio-cultural matters, with a special, though not exclusive, focus on the region;
• reflection, training and qualification measures, some of which are directed at the social and cultural organisations and personnel, others open to the community in general; and
• information networks that include various social and cultural organisations.
